Wellstead Bush Camp

Wellstead Bush Camp is opposite the hamlet of Wellstead 100 kilometres east of Albany and 90 kilometres south-west of Jerramungup on the South Coast Highway.

It is 30 acres of basic accommodation that has been excised from Rob and Carolyn Davy’s farm (their main business). It is conveniently located, pet friendly and an enjoyable experience.

There is plenty of flat, gravel/grass drive through sites both powered and unpowered. Ideal for big rigs, caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers or tents/swags. At $10 per night per person unpowered and $5 extra for power it is an absolute bargain considering there are toilets, showers, an excellent camp kitchen, communal fireplace and a sheltered socialising area. There is one self contained cabin.

There is good Telstra reception. Fuel, food and liquor supplies, playground and a dump point are less than 500 metres away at Wellstead. Summer temperatures are mild along the southern coast. Ideal for groups, families or solo travellers. Farm machinery displays are on the way and tours of the farms are possible if you ask nicely.

The Bush Camp is an ideal base to explore the spectacular and easily accessible coastal beaches (Cape Riche, Boat Harbour, Pallinup) as well as challenging 4WD tracks for those with well set up vehicles. You can see the Stirling Ranges from your campsite.

Birders have recorded 32 species. More work is underway.

The on site Camp Host is unobtrusive but there if needed.

If Carolyn and Rob do lift their prices to a more commercial rate it will still be excellent value! At Wellstead Bush Park their rates are per head which, as any solo traveler will attest, is a lot more equitable than a ‘per site’ rate.
